GOD OF GREAT MERCY – JONAH 4:1 – 11

GOD OF GREAT MERCY – JONAH 4:1 – 11
And am I not to have mercy on Nineveh, that great town, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons without the power of judging between right and left, as well as much cattle? (v.11 BBE)
The LORD, HE is GOD; HE is not man. HE is full of compassion and love. HE cares for both man and animals. HE will always make a way out for the lost, the poor, the oppressed and the desolate. HE will not want anyone to be overcome by Satan and sin. He will not want the sinner to die in sin and lose HIS Kingdom. Who can be compared to the great GOD?
I am amazed by the thought and action of Jonah. I wandered why a messenger of GOD would be so self-centered and would not want the sinner to be saved. May be some of us believers in the Gospel of Christ are also concerned about ourselves and we give less thought and concern to(for) many others who are yet to be saved by the power of Christ; we are not concerned about the neighbours that could not discern between their right hand and their left hand. These run in contrast to the messages of Christ.
Jonah acted very contrary in manner to the merciful GOD he claimed to be serving. Why was Jonah angry? Why did he want to die? Let us think on this action of Jonah. Is there any way we have been bitter about (over) a thing? Let us give it to GOD.
The loving and merciful GOD showed HIS way and act to the Ninevites; HE also showed it to Jonah but he did not appreciate it. The love and mercy of GOD is also expressed to us all this time through Jesus Christ. The LORD that would not want the Ninevites to perish wants all of us to have life in HIM. The GOD that made shade for bitter Jonah will miraculously make shelter for the homeless through HIS grace in Jesus Christ. Amen!
GOD is concerned about everyone. GOD is thinking about us. We should not think less about GOD and we should not do less than HE would have wanted us to. May HIS mercy cover us!
Let us pray for restoration of hope and comfort for those who feel they are alone in their troubles. Pray that those who have accommodation problems will receive GOD’S help. May the Love of GOD comfort all our hearts. Amen!
