THE GOD OF ANOTHER CHANCE - JONAH 3:1 – 10
And God saw what they did, how they were turned from their evil way; and God's purpose was changed as to the evil which he said he would do to them, and he did it not. (v.10 BBE)
GOD is good and HIS mercy endures forever. HIS compassion does not fail and HIS faithfulness is great. May we receive and enjoy in full measure, the grace and compassion of the LORD.
GOD’S unlimited compassion was shown to Jonah and he could not be drowned in the sea neither was he allowed to suffer corruption in the belly of the great fish that swallowed him. When he heard the word of the LORD again and he had another chance to deliver GOD’S message, he wasted no time in doing it. The chance of witnessing another day on this planet earth is an extension of GOD’S compassion to mankind. Every moment that we have breath in us should make us realize that GOD is giving us another opportunity to mend our ways before HIM.
Jonah’s message was divine; the king, his people and their animals responded appropriately. It was not like in the time of Noah that we learnt people made jest and refused to believe Noah until the rain fell and the flood overran them. This time, the Ninevites got another chance to put their ways right before GOD and they received HIS mercy. How are you taking GOD’s word?
Now, One greater than Jonah had been made sin that everyone who would believe might receive the righteousness of GOD in/through Him. Jesus, the Christ is the love of GOD revealed to us this time. His message is also divine and very simple – repent, for the kingdom of GOD is at hand! This is another chance to consider the call to repentance and salvation in Christ. Will you take this in seriously, or will you make jest of it like before? Time is running out, it is wise to do like the Ninevites did and make strong prayers to the GOD who gives another chance.
You now know what you need to do for true life to be restored to you; delay no longer and act fast. Jesus is real and His love is true. Let GOD see your heart of repentance and send you the help that will make you whole spirit, soul and body. It is well!
Pray for a new heart and a right spirit within you. Pray that many people suffering for their sins will receive divine help.
