YOU WILL NOT BE DROWNED! – JONAH 1:9 – 17
YOU WILL NOT BE DROWNED! – JONAH 1:9 – 17
So, crying to the Lord, they said, Give ear to our prayer, O Lord, give ear, and do not let destruction overtake us because of this man's life; do not put on us the sin of taking life without cause: for you, O Lord, have done what seemed good to you.(v.14 BBE)
Look around, what do you see? You may not easily see smiling faces or peaceful environment. But look unto the Lord, Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith and the peace of GOD that surpasses all understanding shall fill your heart, amen.
Jonah and his travelling partners did all they could possibly do to keep their sheep from breaking and sinking, but the sea waves refused to be calmed. Everyone knew that this trouble was because of someone’s disobedience. This people had a mind of not committing more sins by seeking the death of Jonah (which was the devil’s aim). I believe GOD would not permit the devil to drown this people in the sea; because he would be accusing them of calling on false gods and put the sin of disobedience against Jonah. But GOD was waiting to use the situation to show forth HIS greatness. Thank GOD for the question they put forward to Jonah: “What are we to do to you so that the sea may become calm for us?” May be you are also looking at what to do as regards your situation; have you asked the right question(s)?
Jonah was cast into the sea and the angry wave ceased. We need not throw the like of Jonah into the sea this time for the storm to cease because of Jesus Christ; but we really need to cast the sin (in whatever nature) to the Lord for proper help. I pray that the Lord help us to get things right with Him.
Beloved, you will not be drowned in the sea of trouble of any kind; but you must understand what it means to put things in the right order according to the will of GOD. The challenge of these sailors made them know the GOD of the Hebrews as a Mighty One that they gladly offered HIM a sacrifice and vowed to serve HIM. Jonah was not drowned either, but the LORD prepared a place for him in the belly of a great fish. What a retreat center!
Pray that you have the true and right identity before GOD and over every challenge. Christ is GOD’S help out of the turbulence of life for you, cry to Him. May your joy be full. Amen!
