MINISTER TO THE LORD INSTEAD – 1 SAMUEL 2:11-26
Then Elkanah went to his house at Ramah. But the child ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest. (v.11 NKJV)
May the LORD Almighty bless your home and make you fruitful in every good work. May HE be proud to be called your father; and make all with you to be called GOD’S own. May HIS Spirit fill you and make you righteously different and blessed in Jesus name.
Samuel was a young child dedicated to minister to the LORD from a very tender age; Hophni and Phinehas, the sons of Eli were also dedicated to minister to the LORD at very tender ages, being children of the Chief Priest. These Children of Eli, instead of ministering truly to the LORD, they chose to be ministers of the devil instead – they were engrossed in abominable deeds, and they continued unhindered, displeasing GOD and HIS people.
Samuel grew with this people and she refused to be caught in the web of corruption and abomination to GOD. Are you possibly among people of corrupt practices, language, style and actions? Who have you chosen to minister to in the condition you have found yourself? I hope you are not polluted with the slogan, “if you cannot beat them, then you join them”. May GOD help you.
It is amazing to read of the Hannah that chose to minister to the LORD with the only child she was blessed with; where was Peninah, and her children? Who were they ministering to?
Beloved, GOD is faithfull; HE honours those who diligently seek and serve HIM. Hannah was blessed with more children (Sons and daughters) for her faithfulness. This is a blessing to Elkanah and to all the people in their society. But imagine what Peninah’s children would be among their people (the Bible did not mention this, and who their mummy eventually becomes, but we know of Hanah). I boldly declare that your ministration to the LORD through your honest, diligent and faithful service to others and in your strong faith in Jesus Christ will not go unnoticed with blessed reward. Choose to minister to the LORD no matter the ugly trends of affairs that go on around you. You are GOD’s own.
"The LORD give you descendants from this woman for the loan that was given to the LORD." – As you choose to minister to the LORD in Christ name, may your reward be glorious.
