PLEASE, LET IT BE A NEW YOU – MATTHEW 9:9 - 17
And men do not put new wine into old wine-skins; or the skins will be burst and the wine will come out, and the skins are of no more use: but they put new wine into new wine-skins, and so the two will be safe. (v.17 BBE)
There were many tax collectors in town when Jesus passed by and located Matthew (or Levi); and He called him out to follow in ministering salvation to the sinners, help to the helpless and in giving hope to the hopeless; may GOD be pleased to locate you and single you out for the honour that no man can give and money cannot buy. May this be your day and set time to be favored in all your affairs; may the glory of the LORD be seen upon you.
There is always a GOD designed occasion for distinction; I believe this will be one of such in your life, in Jesus Christ name. Tax collection was no respected profession among many people in those times; many people believed it to be the profession of ‘sinners’. The people involved were believed to be mean and merciless; and that they were being used by the government of the day to molest the people (meanwhile, it is good to pay your tax, it is your civic responsibility, and a means of helping a good government to serve the people rightly). It does not matter what people think about your profession, how you carry it out responsibly among the people is what is important; and you can do this well when Jesus Christ finds you and gets fully involved.
It is a shame to see or read about how ‘Christians’ handle their professions, duties, families and other affairs shoddily and or corruptly. Christians are expected be people called out by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, saved by His grace, washed and sanctified by His Blood and renewed in their mind. They are expected to have been dead to sin by putting of the old nature (like the old wine-skin) and raised in a new nature unto Christ by His Spirit. What used to be the works of sin, the ‘Christian’ will do no more; he/she is a new person with a new spirit influenced by the Holy Spirit. Please, who are you and how are you handling your affairs?
Pray for the help of Jesus Christ in your life. Pray for the influence of the Holy Spirit in the life and affairs of people in government offices. May your spirit and soul be saved. Amen!
