DON’T BE PROUD IN YOUR HEART – OBADIAH 1 – 9

DON’T BE PROUD IN YOUR HEART – OBADIAH 1 – 9
You thought you were so great, perched high among the rocks, king of the mountain, Thinking to yourself, 'Nobody can get to me! Nobody can touch me!' (v.3 MSG)
What goes on in the heart of every individual cannot be hidden from the Maker of the Heaven, the Earth and everything that is in them. No foolish nor wise thought can escape GOD’S notice; the power of execution or the consequent action have their reward; good or bad. May the word of GOD prevail in our hearts henceforth; may every good intent prevail over all evil conceptions. May we be put right in our thought and ways before GOD in Jesus Christ name.
Edom was supposed to be a great, secured and blessed city in its time, but the Edomites (who happened to be the descendants of Esau, Jacob’s brother) were proud, arrogant and disobedient to GOD’S laws or commands. Because they had great possessions; dwelt in a region secured by the hills, and blessed with valiant men, they refused to acknowledge the GOD of their fathers in all their ways. They felt very big in their hearts; they had strong allies, and they felt too confident in their acclaimed wealth and security so much that they forgot GOD and did wickedly, especially to Israel, their brother, in all his travails.
Messages from GOD went out to Edom so that they would not be destroyed; what did they do with these messages? How did they treat the messengers from GOD? Will you take time to check your heart for the thoughts that run in it; will you watch your ways and see if you have been proud or humble before GOD?
There is an unusual work of the grace of GOD in your life; it is teaching you to acknowledge the way of truth and deny every ungodliness. It is looking forward to making you great in GOD’S way. It is crying for the mercy of GOD in Christ Jesus to prevail in your life. Take advantage of the grace unto salvation, and do not let any pride lead you into destruction. Rejecting the word and works of grace is a way of accepting death and destruction.
Esau might have failed; his people might have rejected the counsel of GOD; you will not fail to acknowledge the power of GOD to save your soul. You shall not be destroyed; You shall be fulfilled in GOD’S will to HIS glory in Jesus name.
